Premium Decoration for Extraordinary Wine

Shannon Family of Wines is rooted in Lake County, where mountain vineyards and volcanic soils define the character of every release. The OVIS brand pays tribute to the sheep that graze the land—an emblem of balance, stewardship, and connection to the environment.

The packaging needed to reflect the rarity and value of this small-lot collection, expressing it with premium decoration.

At the neck, a gold band is printed across the bottle lip—one of the most technically demanding areas to decorate—executed here with precision as an integrated part of the design.

On the front, the OVIS name is rendered in precious-metal gold ink, delivering a reflective finish that contrasts cleanly against the glass. Supporting copy is scaled down, yet remains crisp and fully legible.

At the lower half of the bottle, the artwork shifts.

The photographic sheep are translated into a halftone, allowing continuous imagery to be achieved through screen printing while preserving texture and depth.

What feels seamless is built through multiple print components, each working across different areas of the bottle.

At Monvera, we bring these elements together—from neck decoration to detailed artwork—ensuring every detail is executed with precision.

Transformative Labels That Create Memorable Moments

Designed for the Evening.

Some bottles don’t just hold the product — they set the mood before it’s even opened.

This mulled wine label is built around atmosphere. A deep midnight surface becomes the canvas for layered screen printing — stars scattered across the glass, a silhouetted landscape rising from the base, and typography that feels suspended in the scene.

Each element is printed directly onto the bottle, building depth through multiple ink layers. There’s no label separating the design from the surface — the artwork lives on the glass itself, creating a sense of permanence.

The result feels immersive. Almost cinematic.

For wine and beverage brands, this approach opens up a different way of thinking about packaging — not just as identification, but as an extension of the experience. The bottle becomes part of the moment it’s meant to be enjoyed in.

At Monvera, we work with brands to translate visual storytelling onto glass — using layered screen printing techniques to create depth, contrast, and atmosphere that lasts.

Blending Tradition with Modern Techniques

Combining the Best of Both Worlds.

Navigator Chardonnay is guided by a sense of place — Napa Valley expressed through precision, balance, and restraint. Rooted in classic winemaking and inspired by exploration, the wine carries a quiet confidence shaped by coastal influence, careful farming, and thoughtful blending.

That sense of intention extends directly onto the bottle.

Navigator’s label design brings together two distinct printing techniques working in harmony. A detailed map illustration is screen-printed directly onto the glass surface. Layered over it, a paper label provides contrast and structure, grounding the design with clarity and tradition.

The result is dimensional without being loud. Light filters through the Chardonnay and the screen-printed map, creating depth and subtle movement, while the paper label grounds the design with tradition and a sense of familiarity. It’s a thoughtful balance of permanence and refinement — modern technique paired with classic presentation.

At Monvera, we help wine brands like Navigator combine materials and methods intentionally — using the right printing approach in the right place to tell a richer story through the bottle itself.

Monvera Glass Decoration: Creative Label Solutions for a Competitive Market

In today’s challenging marketplace, it’s imperative for a winery’s bottles to stand out on a crowded shelf when consumers walk into a store to purchase wine. Regular patrons and wine connoisseurs know where to find their favorite wines, but for those unsure of what wine to buy, the multitude of options can be overwhelming, and the final decision is often influenced by the label. To this end, creative bottle and label design is essential to successfully showcase wines — especially when targeting the younger generation of wine drinkers.

Monvera Glass Decoration is a leader in working with wineries and their designers to create eye-catching label solutions using two innovative processes — screen printing directly onto the surface of the bottle and spray coating. The latter process is when the bottle is sprayed with any color in different finishes, including opaque, transparent, translucent and frosted.

“We are the alternative to paper labels,” says Monvera’s COO, Caitriona Anderson. “It is an easy way to create a premium package without being terribly expensive. There are an infinite number of packages that you can make from these two processes and countless colors, finishes and design options.”

Unlike paper labels, which can tear, fade, or stain, screen printing is highly durable and allows for more creative use of the bottle’s surface. It removes the limitations of traditional dielines, enabling designers to craft unique and eye-catching labels on bottles of all shapes and styles. Screen printing supports innovative designs, such as 360 degree full-wrap prints and decorations on the bottle’s shoulders, maximizing the design’s visual impact. Additionally, neck printing can eliminate the need for a capsule, which has a positive environmental effect.

Anderson points out, “You can use screen printing regardless of the style of wine, the wine’s target audience and the price point. We often print traditional imagery of a vineyard with the winery in the background, but sometimes the artwork is just fun and playful.”

Working collaboratively with customers is central to Monvera Glass Decorations’ goals to foster lasting relationships. Monvera is excited about participating in the creative innovations designers can execute using screen printing and spray coating. At the Unified Expo, the Monvera team plans to share many of the changes these new processes have brought to their customers’ labels in the past year. Anderson explains, “One example is with frosting. Some customers ask us to frost the bottle first and then put a paper or UV label on it. We’ve also discovered that we can reverse that process by screen printing the label first with ceramic inks and then frosting over it, which produces a unique brushed effect. We’ve done that with precious metal inks, which makes the inks look brushed. We call it Brushed Metals.”

When a Label Isn't Enough —Make Frosting Part of the Story

This Rosé from Shannon Family of Wines traces its lineage to “The Mother” vine — brought from Croatia in 1870. More than 150 years later, the wine carries forward a story of heritage and legacy. The bottle decoration needed to be as special as the story. The solution was frosting, a finish that elevates the glass with quiet sophistication. By keeping the design minimal, the frost enhances the surface with a clean, diffused glow.

First, the artwork was printed 360° around the bottle in durable ceramic inks. The neck was decorated with the brand name, and a delicate gold band was added along the lip. Once printed, the entire bottle was frosted, preserving every detail beneath a soft, misted layer that evokes the look of chilled wine.

For elevated designs, frosting isn’t just a finish. It’s a storytelling device — adding depth, quiet contrast, and visual restraint. The texture is smooth and elegant — irresistible on the shelf.

Some Designs Don’t Need a Label to Stand Out — They Let the Glass Do the Talking

Design is the message.

And when you print directly on glass, that message becomes unforgettable.

We’ve seen millions of bottles come through our print lines, and certain design styles just work. They don’t need a label to stand out — they let the glass do the talking.

In this week’s post, we’re showcasing 5 design styles that look beautiful on glass and create real shelf impact.

• No labels. • No templates. • Just creativity, printed straight to the bottle.

Not All Inks Are Created Equal: Precious Metal vs. Ceramic vs. UV

What designers and brand owners should know before printing on glass

Gold isn’t always gold. Not in glass decoration.

Sometimes its precious metal. Sometimes its ceramic ink made to look metallic. Sometimes its UV ink cured with UV lights.

Here’s a breakdown of the 3 main ink systems Monvera works with — and how to choose the one that best fits your brand.

Precious Metal Gold Ink

Real gold. Real luxury.

  • Contains actual gold particles
  • Rich, reflective finish — unmistakably premium
  • Often used on luxury spirits and premium wines

Consider if: You’re building a high-end product that should look and feel expensive. This is the real thing — not an imitation.

Ceramic Inks

The cost-effective option.

  • Ink mixed with glass frit.
  • Textured feel, depending on the ink.
  • Offers great opacity, color stability, and durability.
  • Ideal for detailed logos, text, and full wraps.

Consider if: You want an inexpensive alternative to precious metal gold. Used heavily across all product categories.

UV Inks

Offers the broadest color palette with the lowest carbon footprint.

  • Cured with ultraviolet light.
  • Not bonded to the glass like ceramic or precious inks.

Consider if: Your design requires vibrant attention-grabbing colors.

So which ink is right for your project?

That depends on what you're optimizing for:

  • If you're going for ultimate luxury and shine: Choose precious metal ink. It's the real thing — real gold fired into glass for a rich, reflective finish.
  • If you need durability and detailed precision: Go with ceramic ink. It's long-lasting, inexpensive and perfect for fine detailed designs.
  • If you need bold bright vibrant colors: UV ink is your best bet.

At Monvera, we don’t just print. We help you choose the right process — because the ink is part of the brand.

And if you want your packaging to hold up — on the shelf, in the hand, and in memory — the material matters.

Designing for the Surface: Why Packaging Shouldn’t Stop at the Label

Most people design the label.
Fewer design the surface.
But in direct-to-glass screen printing, the surface is the label. And for brands looking to differentiate, it might just be the missing layer.

  • Labels can be beautiful — but they’re temporary
  • Screen print becomes part of the object itself
  • And when you print directly to glass, the label becomes… permanent

It’s not just aesthetics. It’s perception.
Take Melorosa, for example.
The brand chose to skip the paper entirely. Instead, we screen printed an architectural illustration directly onto the bottle — a story about legacy, migration, and craftsmanship told in a single line of ink.
No label to peel. No glue to fade. Just memory held in form.

Or Suerte Tequila — a brand that channels ancient Aztec mythology into its packaging. Their iconic rabbit was printed in two colors right onto the glass. Every agave tattoo, every etched line — fused into the bottle itself.
Not just for beauty. But for impact.

Direct-to-glass printing is not just a design choice. It’s a brand signal.
It says:
• You care about longevity
• You understand material storytelling
• You’re designing for shelf, touch, and reuse — not just for first impressions

When done right, the surface becomes the message.
And that’s something no sticker can replicate.

We’d be happy to show you. Just say “review” and we’ll take a look.
