This cork stopper adapts to standard bottles and combines practicality with sustainability, preserving all the advantages of cork.

Amorim Cork relaunches Helix, the ergonomically disruptive natural cork closure that combines the convenience of twist opening with the authenticity, ritual, and sustainability of traditional cork. First introduced in 2013, Helix has surpassed 50 million units sold globally and is now available in an updated version compatible with all bottles featuring an 18.5mm neck (CETIE model), expanding its versatility across markets and wine styles.

Helix was developed to address evolving consumer behavior while preserving the elements that define the wine experience. The closure opens without a corkscrew, yet retains the unmistakable “pop” of natural cork—maintaining the opening ritual consumers associate with quality and celebration. Its twist-and-pop design allows bottles to be easily reclosed, supporting fractional consumption and helping preserve freshness and quality after opening.

This functionality makes Helix particularly relevant for today’s consumption patterns, from at-home occasions to the HORECA channel, where resealability adds convenience, reduces waste, and enhances service flexibility without compromising presentation or performance.

Manufactured from natural cork, Helix incorporates Amorim’s anti-TCA technology and is designed to deliver consistent physical and mechanical performance. The closure ensures wine stability after bottling while preserving sensory integrity, combining reliability with a low environmental footprint. As with all Amorim cork solutions, sustainability is integral to its design, reinforcing cork’s role as a renewable and climate-positive material.

Helix is aimed at wine brands that value innovation, packaging differentiation, and storytelling. It resonates strongly with younger consumers, particularly Millennials and Gen Z, who prioritize ease of use and conscious consumption, and is increasingly relevant for fast-growing segments such as organic, sustainable, and NOLO wines.

The closure has already been adopted by wine producers in key markets, including Rupert Wines (South Africa), Neleman (Spain), Castellani (Italy) and Vins Richard (France). Their use of Helix highlights its effectiveness as a distinctive packaging solution that balances modern convenience with the heritage of cork.

Consumer research further supports Helix’s market potential; a study conducted on the twist-and-pop format found that 78% of consumers expressed interest in the concept, while 68% indicated a willingness to pay more for this type of closure.

“Twelve years after its creation, Helix returns with an enhanced proposal to expand its reach and consolidate Amorim Cork’s leadership. By combining the tradition of cork with technological innovation, Helix offers consumers a unique wine tasting experience and producers a practical and sustainable solution that enhances brands and keeps pace with global trends. It is an evolution that redefines the way wine is enjoyed and marketed,” says António Rios de Amorim, Chairman and CEO of Corticiera Amorim.
