With the introduction of the Meritage Wine Opener, Vinotive once again delivers a professional-quality tool for the modern wine enthusiast. On the heels of their success with the Vinaer Wine Aerator and Vortex Somm Aerating Wine Dispenser, this product launch adds to their innovative, Danish-designed wine accessory line, combining form, function and style.
When a sommelier or tasting room server speaks passionately about a wine, it creates a lasting impression — one that is enhanced by the products used to open a bottle, pour a glass or aerate a wine.
“The whole premise behind Vinotive is to elevate the art of serving wine and the customer experience of going to a tasting room, appreciating the farmland and vineyards around them, and meeting someone who's passionate about wine on the other side of the counter. But how can they take that experience home? It isn’t just about pouring wine straight into a glass — somehow, that doesn't taste or feel the same.”
— Stephen Thomson, the Co-Founder of specialty wine accessory company Vinotive
That same concept drove Vinotive's newest product — the recently-released Meritage Dual Wine Opener, built to solve a problem every winery or consumer with a library collection knows: how to extract an older, fragile cork without destroying it.
Says Thomson, “We tackled the challenge of creating a product that is aesthetically pleasing and also has 21st-century form and function. We spent nearly three years in development, working with wineries to put it in the hands of hundreds of people. The final product’s ergonomics better fit how you hold a corkscrew and use it as a tool.”
When you reach for the Meritage Dual Wine Opener, the sheen and weight of its chrome-plated, stainless-steel handle immediately convey a professional quality. The functional design combines a traditional corkscrew with the Ah-So-style two prongs that keep compromised corks intact when extracting them from vintage Library wines. The way the corkscrew works is anything but traditional: the Meritage handle unscrews into two parts, allowing the user to wiggle the two prongs around the cork and then screw the worm in. This two-part action ensures the worm is guided directly to the center of the cork — and when the two parts of the handle realign, the user knows it’s ready to pull it out. The result is a clean extraction, every time.

Vinotive products are meant to be passed on to the next generation. That durability is part of their design philosophy: a product that works the first time should work just as well years later. Many large and small wine clubs are proud to put their logos on Vinotive's innovative wine accessories.
Vinotive's products are built to carry that tasting room experience home. This philosophy is evident across the product line. The Vinaer 7 Function Wine Aerator decants and aerates wine instantly as it’s poured — bringing what would normally require time and a decanter into a single, elegant motion. The Vortex Somm Aerating Wine Dispenser takes the concept a step further, using a rain filter to aerate the entire bottle as it fills the decanting vessel beneath. Each product solves a real problem while preserving the ritual of serving wine.

Vinotive relies on non-traditional marketing — the products speak for themselves, spreading through wine clubs and word of mouth across the country. Says Thomson, “Wineries understand that every time they use one of our products, consumers see their logo. We create products for the wineries — it's about elevating their brand.”
