Making the right pest and disease management decisions comes down to timing, and getting it wrong can mean wasted inputs, higher costs, and increased crop risk. In this webinar, you’ll learn how growers are using NEWA decision-support models together with on-site weather data to make more precise IPM decisions for spray timing, irrigation, and crop thinning. Join Jon Clements (UMass Extension) and Matt Sharp (HOBO) as they walk through how NEWA models work in practice and how integrating real-time weather data can help improve the accuracy and effectiveness of your management decisions. This session will include a live demonstration of the NEWA website, where you’ll see how to use IPM tools to support real-time decision-making in the field. In this session, you’ll learn: How to use NEWA models to improve spray timing and reduce unnecessary fungicide applications How weather data supports better irrigation decisions, especially in high-density orchards How thinning models help optimiz

Learn how NEWA's hyper-localized modeling, paired with HOBO weather stations, helps growers use the optimal pest management and disease countermeasures. Jon Clements, Extension Fruit Team Leader at UMASS Amherst presents the models and tools that NEWA has developed to help growers with insect pest and plant disease risk assessment, and Matt Sharp of HOBO presents how HOBO stations work with NEWA's tools. How to use NEWA Models for Growing Recommendations In the first portion, Jon will demonstrate how to use NEWA models for recommendations on spray schedules, irrigation and thinning models, including: Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Using the Apple Scab Model for targeted fungicide applications to reduces chemical costs and improve the timing of sprays. Irrigation Optimization: Use data on precipitation and environmental demand to help manage water, particularly for drought monitoring in high-density orchards with smaller root systems. Crop Thinning Decisions: The tool

Bottle360: Redefining DTC Wine Sales Proven Bottom-Line Results The trend toward wine subscriptions and modernized membership formats relies on personalization. That means wineries need to tailor their messaging, pricing and communications to individual wine consumers. Making personalization flexible, is the most sought-after function in Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) programs, but many users find that their software makes it hard to accomplish. Bottle360 is tackling this challenge. “The tools a winery needs to boost new consumer sales and earn repeat orders have to be highly flexible to personalize customer experiences but also match the individuality and uniqueness of each winery,” says Katherine Adams, the CEO and founder of Bottle360. “That is why we focused on developing the right tools that offer versatile ways for the winery to transform how they connect with their potential customers and foster deeper loyalty with existing ones. Our goal is to increa

Rain during harvest can be a headache! While it can interrupt the natural flow of operations, agility in harvesting is key. Follow these 5 quick tips to ensure a smooth harvest regardless of precipitation and avoid any unnecessary damage to your end product. Tip #1 - Do not harvest grapes immediately after rain. Harvesting grapes that contain additional water will result in a diluted must that can throw off the delicate balance of sugar and acid. As water has a higher pH than wine grapes, it can also raise pH levels in your wine! It is a best practice to leave the grapes to dry on the vine for at least two to three hours, if not a day or two, after any rain before picking. Tip #2 - Plan to use any breaks from rain to give yourself a head start! While rain can be an annoyance, it also can allow some extra breathing time to prepare other fruits or get things in line for crush. Planning ahead can make the rain a productive break from the chaos and a chance to strategize. Tip #3
