As we welcome the start of the season, now begins one of the most crucial aspects of our operation – implementing our high standard, testing protocols. Cutting harvest is around the corner and we wanted to remind our partners of the many efforts we put forth to provide the highest level of vine quality. At Sunridge Nurseries, maintaining superior standards and vine cleanliness is paramount. From start to finish throughout the propagation process, we set the foundation for vineyard success and aim to continue raising the industry standard.

That standard is as follows:

• We sample 100% of our mother blocks at a 99% confidence interval for a comprehensive range of grapevine viruses and other pathogens. 
• Our tests are facilitated by a third-party, accredited lab using the most advanced, PCR testing techniques.  
• Prior to grafting, cuttings are soaked in a quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant for sanitation. 
• All grafting, disbudding and cutting implements are constantly sanitized using an alcohol spray.
• Grafted vines are treated with a proprietary mix of Trichoderma and other beneficial microbes prior to the callous process.
• Due to our strong testing protocols and isolated locations, our cuttings are harvested from the cleanest motherblocks in the industry.
• All cuttings and dormants harvested are fumigated with phosphine gas prior to being packed for storage to ensure they are free from any pests.
• We custom blend our potting soil using the highest quality components for optimal root growth, including adding mychorhizae to the media.
• Vines planted in the greenhouse or field are pre-emptively treated with a broad spectrum of systemic and contact pest control treatments.
• Throughout the growing process we utilize our state-of-the-art hypochlorous acid water sanitation system alongside our custom fertigation regime meant to stimulate strong rooting and carbohydrate production.
• Vines are scouted, sorted, estimated, and checked daily to determine the status of our customers’ orders, with each key step passing through quality control checkpoints prior to moving on to the next stage.
• Lastly, once ready, the orders are sorted for shipping with a final QC check on the vines quality and readiness and then delivered to our customer by the most experienced shipping team in the industry.
