With 2023 in the rearview mirror, it seemed like a perfect time to fire up Excel and do some number crunching! We started by looking at just one RedChirp feature first: webchat.
When it comes to letting customers ask questions and connect with your business —from your website — most people think of traditional in-the-browser webchat. But that model just isn’t a good fit for DTC teams; you’re too busy!
Because you don’t have the staff to sit there and man it all the time, those leads go cold and become completely useless. After all, consumers stay on your website for less time than ever, and once they leave, you can’t reach them in the browser anymore.
RedChirp webchat is different.
It starts on your website, but then transitions the conversation to text message when you’re able to reply. That makes it a whole lot easier for your team to administer. You can text customers even (long) after they’ve left your site.
And we know for sure — from this 2023 analysis — that these RedChirp webchats turn into lots of wine sales.
A little over half — 58.9% to be precise — of the wineries using RedChirp have an integration that provides us with their order data. When order data is available, wineries can personalize their own unique Order Attribution settings.
This allows them to specify the proximity between an event in RedChirp, and a subsequent order, that will “count” that order as attributable to RedChirp. In 2023, the average winery had their proximity set to 14 days. For this analysis, that means if a customer first makes a webchat request — fills out the form on a winery’s site asking for help via text — and then goes on to buy something in the next two weeks, they are attributing that purchase to the RedChirp webchat.
Wineries are also able to customize exactly which order types are, or are not, included. Most exclude all club orders, to be conservative, from their Order Attribution data. We used each participating winery’s customized Order Attribution settings in our 2023 analysis. If you’re already a RedChirper, you can view and adjust your Order Attribution settings in the Main Menu > Organization Settings > Order Attribution.
In total, RedChirp webchat requests alone — just this one RedChirp feature! —generated $11,840,069 in sales in 2023! Wineries that had Order Attribution configured received a total of 99,900 webchat requests during 2023, making the average sales per webchat request a staggering $119.
And even more exciting: this is from just a subset of RedChirp customers. Not all wineries have integrated their order data. And because RedChirp has been adding wineries at a staggering clip, the majority of these wineries with Order Attribution data weren’t even using RedChirp for the entirety of 2023. In fact, the average winery included in this calculation used RedChirp for only 137 days – or 37.5% — of the year.
The above numbers are even more impressive when considering that webchat is only one feature of RedChirp. These already impressive sales do not take into account the additional sales generated by promotions, club reminders, automated messages, RedChirp payments, and more. Webchat is included in all levels of RedChirp at no additional charge.
RedChirp does things differently than most B2B SaaS companies.
Traditional B2B SaaS companies spend most of their time, energy, and budgets on their own sales and marketing activities. They use sophisticated analytics, data modeling, and paid advertising to grow, so they can attract the attention of venture capital and private equity. When they raise more money, they put it into more sales and advertising, and continue on round after round.
