Are You Ready for the Thanksgiving Sales Weekend?

Thanksgiving is coming up in a couple of weeks, and as you well know, Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year for many wineries. Are you ready to sell lots of wine and make new friends?

Check last year’s Thanksgiving weekend sales to remind yourselves of how much wine you sold and how many people you saw. You should also have made note of what the busiest hours of the three days of the weekend were, so you can have all hands on deck.

Make sure that you pay attention to the visitors, especially your regular visitors. Your regular customers like to be called by their name as it makes them feel special. In addition, if you remember what their favorite wines are you might mention that you have one or more of their favorites on sale.

A greeter at the entrance is important. Rotate some of your regular staff members who know many of your frequent customers to greet people as they enter. They can welcome the guests and spend a few seconds asking them about their Thanksgiving before they move to the next people.

You may not have a lot of time to spend with individual customers, but for your regular customers, being greeted by name by the owners, the winemaker, or the tasting room staff will make them feel special and possibly increase the amount they buy from you. If these are frequent customers who buy a lot of wine.

Smile all the time. You need to smile so much during Thanksgiving weekend that even the Monday after Thanksgiving your face is stuck on a smile and your employees and co-workers are asking you why you are smiling.

Thanksgiving is a great time to promote friendship, and sales… and let your customers know how much you appreciate them.

Enjoy this Thanksgiving weekend and sell lots of wine.

A tip of the glass from me to you!

 Other Seminars & Training

Staff and management training should be as integral a part of the operation of a successful winery as using the very best grapes and producing top notch wines. Yet, despite its iymportance, it is the component of business operations that is most easily and most often ignored. In fact, it is frequently not recognized as a component of successful business operations at all.

E (as she is known) presents seminars and workshops on a variety of marketing and sales subjects to wineries and winery associations throughout North America. She is a featured speaker at Wineries Unlimited and presents regularly at state and province conferences working across the US and Canada.

In Short was started as a direct marketing company in 1994 and added workshops and seminars to the mix in 1997.  Elizabeth's dynamic and humorous speaking style has made her a popular and busy speaker both in and out of the wine industry.

"In Short Direct Marketing is an essential business tool." - Maureen Hendrikson, Patit Creek Cellars
