In the modern business environment, reliability and efficiency are paramount. A key component of ensuring these factors is the implementation of a comprehensive maintenance program, particularly for critical infrastructure like backup generators. Such programs not only prevent unexpected downtime but also extend the lifespan of equipment, ensuring that businesses remain operational even during emergencies.
One of the primary benefits of a maintenance program is the reduction of unplanned downtime. For businesses that rely heavily on continuous operations, even a short power outage can result in significant financial losses and damage to their reputation. Regular maintenance ensures that equipment such as generators are always in optimal working condition, ready to provide backup power when needed.
Regular maintenance helps in identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate into major problems. This proactive approach not only ensures smooth operation but also extends the lifespan of the equipment. In the case of generators, regular oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks prevent wear and tear, leading to a longer service life.
Many industries are subject to strict regulatory requirements regarding equipment maintenance and operational readiness. A structured maintenance program helps businesses stay compliant with these regulations, avoiding fines and legal complications. For instance, compliance with air quality and fire safety standards often requires documented proof of regular maintenance.
Though implementing a maintenance program involves an initial investment, it results in long-term cost savings. Preventive maintenance is generally less expensive than emergency repairs and the cost of operational downtime. Additionally, well-maintained equipment operates more efficiently, reducing energy consumption and associated costs.
Safety is another critical aspect. Regular maintenance ensures that all safety mechanisms are functioning correctly, thereby reducing the risk of accidents. For generators, this includes checking fuel lines for leaks, ensuring proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, and verifying that all electrical connections are secure.
Regular maintenance and timely repairs are essential to ensure the reliability and longevity of your generator. By understanding common issues and following preventive maintenance guidelines, you can minimize downtime and avoid costly repairs. Always prioritize safety when working on generators and consider professional servicing for complex repairs. With proper care, your generator will provide dependable backup power for years to come.
By staying informed and proactive, you can ensure that your generator remains a reliable source of power, ready to support you during any power outage.

The day-to-day operations and management of CD & Power is headed by Lisa Carter who focuses her considerable effort on building a team of generator experts to offer generator sales, installation, service, repair, maintenance and parts for industrial users throughout Northern California.
CD & Power was established in 1985 by Chuck Uischner, [who is best known as “The Big Tall Bald Guy”]. Chuck would fix all kinds of industrial engines and equipment during the day, and then do books at night. Back in those days, the generator and engine parts department consisted of a small desk and a shelf. Chuck expanded his generator and engine repair business by taking chances, and surrounding himself with motivated people.
In 2013 Chuck transitioned ownership to his daughter, Jill Collaro as President, and his son Donald Uischner as Vice President. Now in our 30th year, CD & Power continues to be a family-run operation with a close-knit network of employees. Under Jill’s able leadership the company earned certification from the State of California as a WBE or Woman-Owned Business Enterprise.
