Controlled-Oxygen Screwcap System

Consistently achieving low levels of oxygen permeation isn’t high-tech – but it does require extreme precision. We start with what is already the most reliable closure system available: the Stelvin 30x60 screwcap. We then add our patent-pending modifications to increase consistency and admit nano-scale quantities of oxygen.

VinPerfect's Controlled-Oxygen Screwcap Liner System is a combination of the standard 30 x 60 ROPP aluminum form factor screwcap paired with the VinPerfect Liner.  The VinPefect Liner, is a laminate of several materials - a food grade polyester (PET) film coated with vacuum-deposited aluminum, a second food grade polyester (PET) film locking in the aluminum coating, and finally a high-density polyethylene foam to provide elastic properties required to seal the bottle.

If you are ready to join the VinPerfect revolution and make an order, or would like to talk more about switching from your existing closure, please call 707-252-2155 or emailing sales@vinperfect.com.

Our Vision to Protect More Wine

VinPerfect aims to give winemakers and wine lovers what they have always deserved: a reliable wine bottle seal, appropriate for any wine style. As winemakers, we have accepted a product defect rate far above what would be tolerated in any other industry for literally hundreds of years. We even romanticized the defects in wine lore. However, in our defense, switching from bark corks to an alternative closure meant trading one problem for another.

Those days are over. With the VinPerfect closure, winemakers can bottle their wines and be assured that their customer will open a perfectly aged wine, every bit the experience the winemaker intended.

VinPerfect Screwcap Closures Released; Company Opens Series A Preferred Stock Offering

VinPerfect, Inc., maker of the first high-performance wine bottle closure, announced that it is taking orders for screwcap closures, had a successful 1Q 2012, launched a Series A-1 Preferred round to raise growth capital and hired a Director of Investor Relations to help with fundraising efforts.

VinPerfect is currently taking orders for this upcoming bottling season.  VinPerfect provides wineries the ability to do custom decoration of screwcaps with laser etching, turn-key customer service, and most importantly, the patent-pending VinPerfect liner.  Wineries should contact sales@vinperfect.com, visit VinPerfect on the web at www.vinperfect.com/order, or call at 707-252-2155.

“During the first quarter of 2012, we made a big transition from our development and beta testing phase into one of aggressive sales growth. We have proven that we created the highest-quality wine closure on the market. It’s now our responsibility to ensure we can grow robustly enough to meet demand as well as to serve all of our customers at the highest level.” - Tim Keller, Founder & CEO

The new capital will allow the company to increase production capacity, expand its sales force, and finance inventory to meet strong demand from wineries.  Additional goals over the next 6 months include establishing outsourced global production and distribution deals with key industry partners.

VinPerfect intends to revolutionize the wine industry. World demand for wine closures exceeds 21 billion units annually. Natural corks allow for an essentially random amount of oxygen transfer into wine bottles, suffer from “cork taint” and higher purchase price, while synthetic corks let in too much oxygen. Screwcaps are rapidly gaining market share, with 15% penetration, despite having a flaw of allowing essentially no oxygen into the bottle, even though most wines benefit  from modest, controlled oxygen transfer.

The VinPerfect patent-pending Screwcap  combines a micro-perforated screwcap and custom-engineered liners that allow for optimal levels of oxygen transfer to suit any wine varietal. With this optimal oxygen transfer rate, the wine is kept in top condition, can age and will taste as the winemaker intended.

Solving the “oxygen problem” removed the last quality-based argument against these closures and means that VinPerfect Screwcaps are capable of replacing corks as the preferred, highest-quality wine closure.

VinPerfect was founded in 2008 by Tim Keller, A UC Davis trained winemaker with over a decade of experience crafting fine wines in Napa and Sonoma Counties. The Company aims to give winemakers and wine lovers what they have always deserved: the perfect wine closure, appropriate for any wine style.

The Responsible, Recyclable Choice For Wine Closures

Screw caps are the responsible choice in wine closures, both for the customer and for the environment.

  • Aluminum is 100% recyclable, and programs that recycle aluminum are in abundance throughout the world. The same is not true for cork or synthetic cork, and there is no economic force that will make such a program sustainable.
  • Screw caps eliminate the need for capsules (foils) that cover the cork, avoiding the environmental impacts associated with producing tin, polylaminate or PVC capsules.
  • Screw cap bottles use less glass and require less energy than bottles produced for cork. Because a cork-finished bottle must enclose a volume for both the wine and the cork, it is larger, requires more glass and is heavier. All of these differences have environmental impacts that dwarf the comparative impacts of cork versus cap.
  • Aluminum for caps sourced by VinPerfect is refined using 100% hydroelectric power. While the refining of aluminum consumes considerable amounts of energy, most aluminum producers get that energy by co-locating with hydroelectric power stations. VinPerfect sources caps only from producers that have the smallest environmental impact possible.
