Saber Engineering is a versatile and talented group of people who have dedicated their careers to delivering state-of-the-art automation and control systems to a comprehensive and devoted group of customers. We are dedicated to providing manufacturing solutions to the wine industry that result in cost savings year after year.

We specialize in ROBOTIC CASE and TRAY PALLETIZING. Our systems can easily adapt to a wide variety of case sizes and pallet patterns during a given production run. Our standard product the RCP-120 will receive your cases or trays, accumulate them, palletize them onto a standard grocery pallet and prepare them for transport to stretch wrap or other processes.

The company was established in Auburn, California in 1993 where it remains today. Our approach to the business of automation has been to remain flexible to current and past technologies as they apply to the industries we serve. Among the services we provide are case palletizing, control system design, vision engineering, software design, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, fabrication, and project management. Our western location is very convenient for service and support to a large geography of the wine industry along the west coast.

KUKA's ultra-quality made in Germany robots are first-in-class for high-speed, performance and cost-effectiveness. Wine Bottle Vision Inspection System
04 August, 2017

Stand-alone automated vision system that inspects and rejects the finish (neck area) of continuous moving wine bottles prior to being filled.  The system is comprised of a Keyence XG-7000 image processor and a Keyence LumiTrax Hi-Speed Color Camera.  An Opto Engineering Pericentric Lens and Ring Light are used to facilitate the optics.  The system inspects for cracks and chips around the neck of the bottle as well as other gross defects.  The system also verifies the correct bottle running on the line. When rejects are found a Custom Rejection System removes the bottle from the conveyance line and onto a Rejection Table.  It is important that the Rejection System displaces the bottle from the line in an upright position for proper accumulation.  User interface and control is comprised of a Rockwell Micro and LCD Display.  A line encoder and sensors are used for tracking and triggering.  Images may be viewed in real-time and failures are archived.  A Lanner Industrial PC is used for archiving, networking and remote access for Plant Metrics.  System is constructed of a welded stainless frame and sheet metal.

Trinchero Purchases Robotic Case Palletizer Cell With 2 Production Line In feeds From Saber Engineering

Saber has designed a single robotic case palletizing cell that will support two separate production lines.  These two production lines will feed into one robotic palletizing cell.  The Kuka robot will simultaneously load same or different palletizing patterns from the two distinct production lines.  The robotic palletizing cell can support lines speeds of 7-8 cases per minute.  This palletizing cell takes advantage of using pallet-less roller conveyors.  This reduces capital and production expense costs by eliminating the need of purchasing two pallet dispensers and on-going need of wooden pallets.  The robotic palletizing cell has the annual production palletizing capacity of supporting 1.5million cases of wine from each production line and has room to grow as further production efficiencies are realized by going pallet-less.
