Screen Printing The first thing people notice about screen printed labels is the total lack of paper. There’s no adhesive, no frayed edges, and no chance of ripping or scuffing. Screen printed labels are actually baked into the surface of the glass for a look that really stands out on store shelves. Bring your labels to the next level with a stylish screen printing solution that sets your products apart from the rest. Compared to paper labels, screen printing offers significant practical advantages:
Etching An elegant etched bottle is perfect for displays and special occasions. Each bottle is etched and hand-painted to the highest of quality standards. Consider etched bottles for:
Etching can be performed whether your bottles are empty or full. If empty, bottles can be blackened and topped with wax for display. When you need a bottle with extra special appeal, talk to us. We can work with bottles of any size and quantity to accommodate your needs.
Decals When screen printing isn’t an option, decals offer the perfect alternative for detailed, multi-color artwork. Your decals are manufactured with non-leaded inks. They are individually hand applied to your bottles and oven-cured to provide an exquisite and durable package. Decals can also be combined with screen printed back labels. Ask us about turn-around times and scheduling.

Monvera Glass Décor Expands Glass Bottle Photography To Further Showcase The Beauty Of Screen Printed Wine Labels
25 October, 2012
Richmond, CA– October 24th, 2012– Monvera Glass Décor, a leading provider of screen printed wine labels is pleased to announce the opening of their bottle photography studio. The studio marks an addition to the Monvera core product offering of label design, bottle decoration and etching. Now wine, spirit, beer, cosmetic and other specialty products can purchase a package of services that include bottle shot photography after their product has been bottled. "In addition to screen printing wine bottles, our customers have asked us to provide them with professional wine bottle photography so that they have shots to use for their own marketing purposes." says Caitriona Anderson, Monvera’s VP of Sales & Marketing. “Whether it’s for their website, brochures or even their business cards, everyone needs high quality imagery that is going to showcase their product in the most positive way. Our new studio within our 42,000 sq foot facility now enables us to offer the service in conjunction with our bottle decoration options that include screen printing, etched wine bottles and decals. Customers such as Fred Groth from Hello Cello (http://www.hellosonoma.com/) have already benefited from the combination of services. “A BIG thank you to Monvera for the fantastic photo of our finished bottle.” says Fred Groth. “We needed a professional, eye-catching image for a recent press release and didn’t know who to turn to for a quick turn-around. Monvera provided us with a series of amazing bottle shots. The angle and lighting were perfect. The flexibility and convenience of having the bottle photographed right after printing is unmatched.” About Monvera Glass Décor: About HelloCello: Wine bottle decorators pour on capacity
17 September, 2012
NAPA and RICHMOND — Two major suppliers of bottle-decoration services are significantly upgrading their production capacity as more vintners turn to screen printing as a luxurious-looking label alternative. To be sure, screen printing accounts for a tiny portion of labeling for wine bottles and historically has been for high-end brands. But Bergin Glass Impressions of Napa and Monvera Glass Décor of Richmond are busy keeping up with demand from wines retailing for less than $20 a bottle. “In the past, it was about making expensive wines look expensive, and now they want the package to stand out on the shelf, regardless of the price point,” said Caitriona Anderson, Monvera Glass vice president of sales and marketing. Bergin Glass (707-224-0111, berginglass.com) invested $950,000 in a six-color unit made by Fermac of Italy capable of printing up to 70 bottles a minute and a 105-foot-long Ernst Pennekamp GmbH & Co. KG lehr furnace with a 6-foot-wide belt. Installed in the 40,000-square-foot south Napa plant in June, the new equipment complements the existing automated annealer furnace and two printing lines, with four- and six-color capability, respectively, according to Mike Bergin, president and director of sales. “When we’re working with larger clients, we can keep the fully automated machine running,” he said. “Right now, we have to do a dance in accommodating smaller runs between large runs.” The automated line can handle runs equivalent of 15,000 to 30,000 12-bottle cases. The new line can work with runs as small as 150 to 700 cases. At its 42,000-square-foot Richmond plant, Monvera Glass (877-792-1150, monvera.com) is spending upwards of $1 million on a custom-built four-color Fermac printing unit that will use CNC technology to screen print full-wrap graphics to a design tolerance of 0.01 millimeters on a wide range of bottle shapes, from oval to square, and on necks, according to Ms. Anderson. When the machine arrives in November, it will be the first of its kind in North America and the fourth in the world. “It allows for screen printing you’re not able to do with a paper label,” Ms. Anderson said. Monvera Glass has three lehrs — one that runs continually and two for added capacity — and two six-color decorators that run at 40 bottles per minute. The new machine is capable of printing up to 80 bottles per minute, depending on the size of the design and shape of the bottle. Yet, it can handle very small runs of at least 100 cases and large runs of tens of thousands of cases. Demand for screen-printed labels has been growing to such a degree that even at a rate of 35,000 to 40,000 bottles a day, Bergin Glass had crews working two 10-hour shifts since March. With seven seasoned lead equipment operators among eight- to 10-person production crews, the 24-year-old company plans to add a third shift in 2013.
After flat growth in 2008–2010, sales for the 48-employee company increased 10 percent last year and are on track to rise 15 percent to 18 percent this year, according to Mr. Bergin. A more fundamental barometer of the health of the luxury wine business for Mr. Bergin is demand for the company’s 11 full-time bottle etchers and hand-painters. Now, orders for such work are on track to be up 20 percent for this year, making it the busiest time for such work since 1999, when special orders related to millennium promotions were at a fever pitch. “It’s an indication that the wine business is coming back,” Mr. Bergin said. “We have small wineries that last year might have ordered 12 3-liter etched bottles and now they are ordering 60 3-liters and telling us they are all presold.” Monvera Glass has expanded three times since a group of investors in 2007 acquired an Oakland shop focused on screen printing tasting room stemware. The new owners shifted to bottle printing, etching and heat-set decals, expanding to Emeryville a year and a half later then doubling in size nearly a year ago in a move to Richmond. The design teams of Bergin and Monvera have been busy helping wineries adapt their paper labels or interpret their branding for screen printing. Bergin has five designers. Half the new business is coming from converting labels, and the other half from vintners and designers coming to screen printing for a brand or packaging refresh, according to Mr. Bergin. “Many want a $20 bottle to look like a $30 bottle,” he said. One new client is Graton-based Purple Wine Co., which is having Bergin screen print its new 15,000-case release of the Cryptic red blend brand. A number of Monvera’s largely smaller-scale new customers have thought screen printed labels were far more expensive. She tells them the per-bottle difference, compared with a run of glue-applied fine paper labels for less than 5,000 cases, can be 4 or 5 cents. “If you put another 4 to 5 cents into a paper label, you can not get as much out of the package as you can with screen printing,” Ms. Anderson said.
Monvera Glass Décor will be adding a CNC-controlled screen printer that will allow full-wrap designs on odd-shaped bottles.

25 July, 2012
Richmond, CA– July 25th, 2012– Monvera Glass Décor, a leading provider of etched wine bottles and screen printed bottle labels has reorganized and revamped their design service offerings provided by the Monvera Art and Design Department. Wineries and other clients now have several service levels that they can choose from depending on their design needs and budget. This in-house service makes it easy for customers to combine label design and label printing together. Clients can bring their current paper label design to Monvera and have a screen printed version developed that still retains the existing brand identity. In addition, a version can be developed for bottle etching too. This approach is suitable for wineries that would like to revamp their existing labels without going through the expense of an entire rebranding program. The customer can opt to revamp their entire line or just use it for specific categories of wine to differentiate them from the rest e.g. reserves, wine club wines, late harvest wines, limited and special releases. The transition from a paper label to a screen printed label elevates the look of the existing label and completes the upgraded look of the package. Design offerings include designing a label for printing on wine bottles using existing logo and art elements. "Often, the customer has a vision for what they want the label to look like and we take those components and repackage them into a beautiful screen printed label or a label for wine bottle etching.“ says Caitriona Anderson, Monvera’s VP of Sales & Marketing. “During the process we are able to incorporate many design techniques that lend themselves to the screen printing process such as full wraps, side label etc. We hear over and over again how important labels are in influencing the consumers purchasing decision. Packaging plays a critical role in making that first sale to a new consumer. Our customers need a resource to support them in the crucial decisions that have to be made about their package. We are happy to be able to provide a full service to our clients between the label design and optimization followed by the actual decoration of the bottle. This streamlined effort saves time and money.” About Monvera Glass Décor: Monvera Glass Décor Announces New Decoration Bottle Service for Wine Clubs
26 June, 2012
Richmond, CA – June 26th, 2012 – Monvera Glass Décor, a leading provider of screen printed labels and wine bottle etching is pleased to announce a new service for wineries aimed at improving the packaging of their wine for their wine club members. Wineries can now bring their current wine club labels to Monvera and have a screen printed version developed that includes a customized wine club member logo. The addition of the member logo helps to elevate the existing label and the transition from a paper label to a screen printed label completes the upgraded look of the bottle. The unique package differentiates the wine club offering from other wines produced by the winery and promotes the exclusively of the wine club wine. In addition, etched wine bottles can be considered as an option for small limited releases that are only offered to wine club members. The bottle can be etched with or without the wine club member logo and can even be personalized for the wineries best and most loyal customers. "Wineries should consider screen printing wine bottles for their wine club wines. Our customers need to think about how to attract and keep wine club members. The more wine that a winery can sell direct to their customers the more revenue they get to keep for themselves. This is critical in today’s business environment. “ says Caitriona Anderson, Monvera’s VP of Sales & Marketing. “Apart from making good wine that their customers love, wineries need to think about the entire presentation of their package. How do their customers feel when they open up their quarterly wine club shipment? Does the bottle look special? Does it make them feel part of an exclusive club? Does the package promote brand loyalty? Is it something that they want to present to their family and friends? These are the questions that wineries need to be asking of themselves. We believe screen printing and etching are packaging tools that can help our customers achieve these goals.” About Monvera Glass Décor: Monvera Glass Décor and California Crystal Announces New Partnership

25 April, 2012
Richmond, CA – April 25th, 2012 – Monvera Glass Décor, a provider of bottle decoration services to the wine, spirits, beverage and food industry, is the recipient of an award from the Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorated Products (SGCDpro). The award was won in the Container’s category and presented at DECO 2012, the society’s annual meeting. The screen printed wine bottle that won the award was Love this Life, which is manufactured and distributed by ESC Wine Group. Caitriona Anderson, Monvera’s VP of Sales & Marketing notes, “Our customer came to us with a design concept based off a painting. Our challenge was to translate this into a screen printed label. There were multiple colors that were all blended and mixed with each other. Our internal Design team utilized a technique that simulates continues tone and gradient effects. The art was modified to a five color version and the colors were layered on top of each other using halftones which created the same paint splashing effect as seen in the original art. The final glass bottle labels were beautiful. The halftones helped revealed the colors underneath and our customer loved the end result.” About Monvera Glass Décor: About ESC Wine Group: About SGCDpro: Monvera Glass Décor Expands Full Service Bottle Etching Department
21 March, 2012
Richmond, CA – March 21th, 2012 – Monvera Glass Décor, a provider of screen printed labels to the wine, spirits, beverage and food industry, has expanded to a new full service bottle etching facility at the company’s current location in Point Richmond. Existing and new customers can have their bottles etched and painted in addition to screen printing on bottles. Glass bottles can now be etched with a label, a logo or even a corporate name. Each bottle is individually hand etched and then hand painted with the chosen artwork. The process is suitable for small and large production runs and for all bottle types including large format bottles ranging from 1.5L to 27L in size. Caitriona Anderson, Monvera’s VP of Sales & Marketing notes, “Many of our customers need etching services in addition to printing on bottles. This is something we’ve wanted to offer for a long time and we’re extremely happy to be in a position to do so now. An etched wine bottle can serve many functions such as a gift at a special event or charity auction, anniversary or holiday celebrations and wine club promotions. Etched bottles that are blackened, to give the appearance of being full, are generally finished off with a colored wax for the neck. They can be used for many purposes such as for tasting room decorations, displays at promotional events and at partner restaurants. Wineries should consider how they are marketing themselves and how etched bottles can be a part of their tool kit.” About Monvera Glass Décor:
