DH Wine Compliance Honored to be among 2014 Best Places to Work
22 August, 2014

The North Bay Business Journal has selected a record 88 companies for its ninth-annual Best Places to Work.

“These are exemplary companies,” said Brad Bollinger, publisher of the Business Journal. “Their leaders show us how to establish and maintain workplaces where morale is high and employees are engaged.”

The 2014 recipients include eight companies returning for their ninth year. “And we are particularly pleased to have nearly 20 new recipients,” said Mr. Bollinger.

The Journal’s Best Places to Work has become an annual performance benchmark for many companies who use the employee survey data to identify both positives in the workplace and areas to improve, according to Mr. Bollinger. The entire process from nomination to awards takes about six months and includes an anonymous employee survey and other submissions from the companies.

“People frequently ask how is a company selected as a best place to work,” Mr. Bollinger said. “The answer is: employees choose you.”

The recipients will be honored  at a gala awards reception Sept. 18 at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa in Santa Rosa. The winners will be profiled in a September issue.

 2011 Year In Review

As many of you know DH Wine Compliance started in January of 2010 in my home office. As we approach our three-year anniversary we are excited to share some of the exciting changes that have occurred in 2011. We started off 2011 with a bang expanding our 226 sq/ft offices to almost 600 sq/ft. With this expansion brought on adding Rebeca Herman to the team to assist with a rapidly growing out-of-state licensing division. As a wine industry veteran, Rebeca has been involved in all aspects of the business which has resulted in an individual who looks at compliance in the larger picture. Her superior customer service and savvy knowledge of compliance has added an invaluable element to the company. As the business continued to grow, so did the need for more office space. In September we moved into our new 2,000 sq/ft offices at 5570 Skylane Blvd., Suite C, Santa Rosa, California.  Just a month later Drea’s Navigating The Road To Compliance article was featured in the NorthBay Biz magazines special wine edition. Drea was also asked to speak on a panel at The Seminar Groups Winery Purchase and Sales Seminar. Sitting on the panel with distinguished attorneys Nicholas Donvan and Scott Greenwood-Meinert of Gaw Van Male was not only gratifying but quite fun. Drea is also featured in the December issue of the NorthBay Biz Magazine along with her fellow group members from the Sonoma County Chapter of Mompreneurs.  We are looking forward to a successful 2012 and wish the same for you and yours.

NAVIGATING THE ROAD TO COMPLIANCE
30 September, 2011

In an industry where the artistry is celebrated, the process romanticized and holding the position of “winemaker” just about catapults one to fame, winery-related compliance is one of the least favorable subjects and, let’s face it, one of the least exciting aspects of the business.

Complying with literally thousands of federal, state, county and city regulations simply isn’t often high on the list of priorities. When it comes to complying with these protocols, while one’s intention may be honorable, execution can often fall a bit short. Yet failure to fulfill your compliance requirements is a costly gamble and can result in the revocation of your permits and licenses.

Consulting a compliance expert is similar to employing a Sherpa to lead you up a mountain. While you’ll do the hiking, the Sherpa will lead the way and make sure you avoid disasters.

Drea Helfer is an incredible business woman, her thorough knowledge of Compliance issues and efficient approach helped us set up our new Wine Business quickly. Drea is friendly, helpful, and professional and we had a smooth, seamless permit and registration process - she kept things moving even if we didn't!

She continues to help our small business with our compliance needs and supports us by filing and updating our reports and keeping us current.  She is fantastic in every way, listening to our needs and questions, and returning emails and messages with care and interest. Simply stated Drea is a fantastic resource for the complicated issues of business owners in the beverage industry - we all need a support person like her!

~ Katy Leese, General Manager/Co-Founder  V2 Wine Group www.v2winegroup.com

I have followed Drea from the two other compliance firms she had worked for before going out on her own. Right there, that says it all for me. She immediately set up a professional and friendly relationship. She has always been timely and responsive which is very important to me in running a successful business. She is well respected in the local wine world and has always been there for me.

~ Michael Muscardini, Owner/Winemaker Muscardini Cellars www.muscardinicellars.com

We were formerly with a previous compliance company where Drea was our contact. We have found that she is extremely organized and knowledgeable! Sometimes as a small winery you have to wear a lot of different hats and DH Wine Compliance has been crucial for us to make sure we have all compliance needs taken care of! I would highly recommend DH Wine Compliance to any other wineries who want to make sure that all of their compliance needs are taken care of throughly and in  timely manner.

~ Erik Miller, Owner/Winemaker Kokomo Winery www.kokomowines.com

We are very happy with the expertise of Drea Helfer and DH Wine Compliance. She has been very professional. We highly endorse and recommend her services.
