Bordeaux / Claret

Red Bordeaux, which is traditionally known as claret in the United Kingdom, is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. Today Malbec and Carmenere are rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines.

Burgundy

There is archaeological evidence of viticulture in Burgundy being established in the Second century AD, although it has been speculated that Celts may have been growing vines in the region already when the Romans conquered Gaul in 51 BC. Greek traders, by whom vine-growing and winemaking was very well known, had founded Massalía in about 600 BC, and traded extensively up the Rhone valley, where the Romans first arrived in the 2nd century BC. The earliest recorded praise of Burgundy wine was written in 591 by Gregory of Tours, who compared it to the Roman wine Falernian.

Hock

Hock is an English term for German wine, sometimes wine from the Rhine regions and sometimes all German wine. The term is a corruption of the name of the German town of Hochheim on the Main river in the Rheingau wine region. The term seems to have been in use in the 17th century, initially for wines from middle Rhine, but in the 18th century became used as a term for any German wine sold in Britain. It seems probable that Queen Victoria's visit to Hochheim and its vineyards during harvest time in 1850 has contributed to the continued use of the term hock.

Large Format Bottles

The Wine Country is a region of Northern California in the United States known worldwide as a premium wine-growing region. Viticulture and wine-making have been practiced in the region since the mid-19th century. There are over 400 wineries in the area north of San Francisco, mostly located in the area's valleys, including Napa Valley in Napa County, and the Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Bennett Valley, and Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. Wine grapes are also grown at higher elevations, such as Atlas Peak and Mount Veeder.

Lab Bottles

Some wines are fermented in the bottle, others are bottled only after fermentation. They come in a large variety of sizes, several named for Biblical kings and other figures. The standard bottle contains 750 ml, although this is a relatively recent development. Wine bottles are usually sealed with cork, but screw-top caps are becoming common, and there are several other methods used to seal bottles.

375 ml Bottles

The history of wine spans thousands of years and is closely intertwined with the history of agriculture, cuisine, civilization and humanity itself. Archaeological evidence suggests that the earliest known wine production occurred in Georgia around 8,000 BC, with other notable sites in Iran and Armenia dated 7,000 BC and 6000 BC, respectively. The archaeological evidence becomes clearer and points to domestication of grapevine in Early Bronze Age sites of the Near East, Sumer and Egypt from around the third millennium BC.

Specialty Bottles

The first wine grapes in Santa Barbara County were planted by the missionaries associated with Mission Santa Barbara late in the 18th century. Since commercial viticulture rebounded in the 1960s, Santa Barbara County has become a prominent viticultural region. The 2004 Alexander Payne film, Sideways, set in the area, brought additional attention to the county as a wine region. Famous for ripe, yet elegant, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the County is also gaining a reputation for Rhone varietals including Syrah and Viognier.

Supplies

Wine, tied in myth to Dionysus/Bacchus, was common in ancient Greece and Rome, and many of the major wine-producing regions of Western Europe today were established with Phoenician and later Roman plantations. Wine-making technology, such as the wine press, improved considerably during the time of the Roman Empire; many grape varieties and cultivation techniques were known and barrels were developed for storing and shipping wine.

All American Containers Expands Packaging Distribution Operations at Port of Kalama
09 May, 2016

Company hires new employees, expands distribution of packaging to serve growing demand for Pacific NW wine, beer, spirits and specialty products

Kalama, WA (April 5, 2016)—All American Containers LLC, one of the nation’s largest suppliers of glass, plastic and metal containers, continues to grow its distribution operations and hire new employees at Port of Kalama. AAC Pacific Coast, a division of All American Containers, moved into the 33,000 square foot Kalama facility in 2012 and continues to grow, adding locally-hired employees to its operations.

Continued growth of the wine, craft beer and spirits industry throughout the Pacific Northwest, makes Port of Kalama an ideal location for All American to serve its core customer base with bottles and packaging. All American also sees a regional uptick in demand for unique bottles for specialty products like olive oils, essential oils, all natural fruit juices and more

“We remain very attracted to the Port of Kalama and plan to continue our growth here—it’s the perfect location for our distribution logistics,” says Stephanie Ramczyk, Business Development Manager for All American Containers’ AAC Wine’s west coast operations. “The Port of Kalama is central to where we are distributing to our customers in Washington, Oregon and beyond. Access to all modes transportation here is huge, and the community is a terrific fit for us—the small, hometown feel suits us and much of our growth is still based on ‘word of mouth.’

All American launched operations in the Pacific Northwest after being awarded a distributorship with Kalama’s Bennu Glass, a robust wine bottle manufacturer that just sold to Owens Illinois, one of the nation’s largest glass container manufacturers. All American continues to distribute products for Owens Illinois, which sees a boom in demand for bottles for the regional wine and craft beer industries.

“Staff at the Port of Kalama truly care about making sure we are happy and successful as a company—they want to know how they can assist us and how they can make sure we have what we need to meet demand and growth,” says Ramczyk.

All American Containers, Inc. is one of the largest suppliers of glass, plastic and metal containers, tubes and dispensers, and plastic and metal closures in the US. Their wine division carries a complete line of wine bottles, corks, and capsules in a wide selection of colors, shapes, styles, and sizes, with bicoastal warehouses servicing the entire United States.

All American Containers joins a growing number of industries and businesses who have found the Port of Kalama an ideal location to grow their businesses.  The Port boasts a new Industrial Park and acres of shovel-ready land for manufacturing, technology, storage and many other uses. All American Containers Pioneers Packaging Retail Concept for the Wine Industry
29 July, 2014

Last year All American Containers (AAC) moved to a new location in Windsor with a 35,000 square foot warehouse space and room for their new innovative wine packaging retail store.

“We’re like your local hardware store,” says Stephanie Ramczyk, “if you’re bottling and running short on corks, you can drive over, grab a bag off the shelf, and be on your way again.”

The retail concept is centered on improved convenience for wineries with a supply store in the heart of wine country that can handle all their packaging needs, and the store has a full range of bottles on various colors and shapes, as well as capsules and closures in stock. “We can work with you to put together the full package,” says Ramczyk, “with custom cases, bottles, closures, and even labels, but that’s not all, we also have tasting room and lab supplies.”

Not only can it save time compared to shipping orders from remote warehouses, but for small orders where shipping and handling costs can become prohibitive, a local store is a good alternative. “Many suppliers don’t want to break up pallets, but we do,” explains Ramczyk, “we can handle as big or as small an order as you need.”

All American Containers has twelve location across the country from Florida to California that provide containers and packaging for the food and beverage industry. There are three locations on the Pacific Coast with the San Leandro facility working as the hub.

AAC Truck

In Kalama, Washington All American Containers is located next to the domestic glass plant, Bennu, that makes the wine bottles All American Containers supply. “We work hard to provide quality American made products like Bennu Glass whenever possible,” says Ramczyk.

Each location specializes in supporting the local industry, and for All American Container in Windsor, that means wine, but they also supply containers for spirits, olive oils, vinegar, and other specialty foods that many wineries produce on the side.

The warehouse is fully powered by solar panels, and All American Containers is in the beginning stages of getting Sonoma Green Business Certified, but that’s only one of the things they do to be sustainable. “We work with our clients to reduce everyone’s cost and carbon footprint,” says Ramczyk, “for example, if our truck is making a delivery in Lake County, we try to time it with a shipment we’re bringing here for repackaging.” All American Containers works with their neighbors in Windsor, Alexander Valley Cellars, to provide repackaging.

“We pride ourselves on being a dependable partner and resource for the wineries,” says Ramczyk, “we understand that flexibility, service, and quick response times can make the difference in the wine industry, which is why we have our own truck, and get to know our clients and their specific needs, so we encourage everyone to stop by for themselves and see what we have to offer – no appointment necessary.”

All American Containers chooses Kalama, Washington to expand operations and distribution of full service packaging and bottles for wine industry

Company leases 33,000 square foot facility to better service the Northwest.

Santa Rosa, CA (September 6, 2012) ---All American Containers (AAC) and Bennu Glass are two companies working together to make a positive impact locally, nationally, and globally. Bennu Glass and All American Containers (AAC) have joined forces in Kalama WA, creating a huge footprint in domestic wine bottle production while significantly reducing their carbon footprint. The Port of Kalama is now home to the 33,000 sq. ft., renovated, state- of-the-art Bennu Glass facility producing over 100 million wine bottles per year. It is also the greenest glass factory in the country, using low emission liquid oxygen and the highest technology in pollution control. Over 100 local jobs have been created as a result, with many more on the horizon.

“The Pacific Northwest has long been a part of our expansion plans and the Port of Kalama offered the perfect central location for us to better serve our customers and the growing wine industry in the Northwest,” said Stephanie Ramczyk, Business Development Manager for All American Containers’ AAC Wine’s west coast operations.

All American Containers plans to expand its food packaging and container operations to the region as well by October 1, 2012. All American Containers recognized the great opportunity to grow their west coast presence and meet the growing needs of the wine industry. With All American Containers coming into the neighborhood, the Port of Kalama will be the 'one-stop shop' for all full service packaging and wine bottle needs.

This partnership fulfills a much-needed niche within the West Coast wine industry for a high quality and affordably priced domestic glass supplier. With an unbeatable turn-around of only 1-2 months, Bennu will manufacture up to 20 different 750ml weight optimized bottle styles, and approximately 9 million cases per year. In addition, purchasing wine bottles domestically will considerably minimize the environmental impact of international transportation.

AAC comes to the Port of Kalama with a 40 year history of being one of the largest suppliers of glass, plastic and metal containers, tubes and dispensers, and plastic and metal closures in the US. The collaboration between AAC and Bennu Glass will have a threefold effect by greatly benefiting the wine business, creating US jobs, and helping to improve the environment.

For more information please feel free to contact Stephanie Ramczyk by phone at (707) 544-3496 or by email at sramczyk@aacpacificcoast.com.

All American Container to Distribute American made Bennu Glass
03 August, 2012

REOPENING OF GLASS FACTORY IN KALAMA, WASHINGTON CREATES AMERICAN JOBS -

In today’s still slowed economy it is reassuring to hear about corporate endeavors bringing jobs back into the United States.  On February 28, 2011 Bennu Glass LLC announced plans to reopen an idle wine bottle manufacturing facility in Kalama, Washington, pending financing, required maintenance, and replacement of faulty equipment.  Bennu’s newly forged alliance with distributor AAC Wine is making this dream a reality.

The factory is currently in production and is planning to celebrate a grand opening in September of this year.  Bennu will manufacture up to 34 different bottle styles, produce over 11 million cases of wine bottles per year, and create over 90 new American jobs internally.  The factory will create additional American jobs as numerous local and regional suppliers will be needed to serve the its demand for raw materials, supplies, and services.  The factory will also further shrink the wine industry’s carbon footprint using low emission liquid oxygen for combustion and state of the art pollution controls, making it the greenest glass factory in the country.

AAC Pacific Coast, a division of All American Containers, is excited to collaborate with Bennu Glass to help expand the company’s distribution reach along both East and West coasts. AAC will be fundamental in Bennu securing a distribution foothold and establishing a presence in the market.  “We’re currently focusing our efforts on producing the highest quality product possible.”  said Nicole Weir, Bennu’s distributor accounts & sales service manager,  “With the current structure and size of our sales team it would be impossible to distribute and create a presence in the market ourselves.  This is why our alliance with AAC is invaluable.”

“We’re thrilled to be part of such a win-win opportunity.  So much of the domestic wine industry is very patriotic and are demanding product that are manufactured by and creating jobs for Americans.  We’re excited to be able to offer more American made options and supporting a good cause.” says Stephanie Ramczyk, Business Development manager of AAC Wine’s West Coast Distribution. This Westcoast alliance will allow them to to offer more variety and keep domestic glass as price competitive as possible.  “People that we’ve talked to continue to tell us that having a reliable, low-cost, high-quality producer in the United States is something that’s good for them, good for their brands, and we have people very anxious to get started,” said Jerry Lemieux, CEO of Bennu Glass LLC

All American Containers, Inc is one of the largest suppliers of glass, plastic and metal containers, tubes and dispensers, and plastic and metal closure in the US. Their wine division carries a complete line of wine bottles, corks, and capsules in a wide selection of colors, shapes, styles, and sizes- and our bi-coastal warehouses service the entire United States. AAC Wine serves businesses of all sizes and with warehouses in Santa Rosa, CA, Simi Valley, CA, and Pittsburg, PA, AAC Wine makes access to their product as easy as possible.  “Whether your operation is large or small, we’ll treat your business as if it were our very own.” states President Marty Sychowski on their website, aacwine.com.
