About Admeo

Admeo is a California Central Coast-based company founded in 2013 by Margit Svenningsen. From 1998 to 2004 Margit serviced various industries in the US selling Anton Paar instruments, and in 2004 began focusing solely on the wine industry. She simultaneously followed her passion for hands-on work and wine by working with Calera Wine Company in Hollister, CA and through the experience built a thorough understanding of winemaking.The experience also led to multiple wine application and method developments for Anton Paar. When she was approached to represent BioSystems in the US she formed Admeo to expand her portfolio for wine labs. Admeo is latin for go-to and is the one-stop shop for wine labs with superior analyzers and local stock of reagents, controls and consumables as well as application support and service.

Y350 Semi-Automatic Analyzer:

The Y350 is our semi-automatic spectrophotometer covering 280 nm to 750 nm. A 280 nm LED allows measuring the Total Phenolics Index (TPI) under the official method in a 10 mm path-length quartz cuvette. No reagent is needed for this method. 420, 520 and 620 nm LEDs allow measurement of all the different Color Indexes under the official method, also without using reagents. 340, 405, 505, 560, 635 and 670 nm LEDs are included to measure key parameters in the winemakers' laboratory using BioSystems reagents (sugars, acids, nitrogen, glycerol and much more - 28 parameters and counting).

 

 

 

 

Y15 and Y25 Analyzers

 

The Y15 and Y25 are Automatic Random Access Analyzers with Dedicated Enology Software. The Y15 runs 150 tests per hour, and the Y25 runs 240 tests per hour. Admeo is your one-stop shop with analyzers and reagent kits from the same the producer with their own R&D so you can count on traceable quality. BioSystems has over 30 years in business, starting in diagnostics and now with a dedicated Enology Division.

How to Save Time and Money in your Winery Lab

Enzymatic testing is widely used in winery laboratories to measure many key analytes throughout the winemaking process. A manual spectrophotometer is the lowest cost option for starting to measure wine enzymatically, and this is where many wineries start. New Method for Sulfite Determination

A New Method for Sulfite Determination

Many wine cellars rely on two manual wet chemistry methods to determine free and total sulfites in their product. For speed, they turn to the Ripper Method. For accuracy, they turn to the Aspiration Method (also known as Modified Monier-Williams or Aeration Oxidation/AO). Both require dedicated glassware, tools and solutions. Additionally, both are partially subjective as a color change, indicating an end-point, must be determined visually by the operator.

For wineries already using enzymatic testing via spectrophotometry for measurement of other analytes like glucose and fructose, malic acid, acetic acid, and more, there is an easier option!

In the past, spectrophotometric sulfite determination was known to work well with white wine samples but show interference from the red wine matrix. The R&D team at BioSystems decided to take on this challenge and with the help of winery clients worldwide found a solution that prevents interference from the wine matrix. The Free and Total Sulfite reagent kits from BioSystems provide data that tracks well with data from the Aeration/Oxidation method1, so wineries can have both accuracy and speed from one method.

NEW REAGENT: CATECHINS

Product News: Catechins

It is our great pleasure to announce thatBioSystems R&D department has developed a new reagent for analysis of Catechins, specifically designed to meet the winemaker's needs.  

Catechins are phenolic compounds of the family of flavonoids, belonging to the subgroup of flavanols. They are of reductive character and prevent the oxidation of anthocyanins precipitation.They are also responsible for bitterness, astringency, yellow color, structure and stability of wine.  

When catechins are polymerized, they form procyanidins that, during the aging of wine, form complexes with proteins, peptides and polysaccharides. This softens and clarifies wines (less bitterness and less astringency). Also during this process, they are combined with the anthocyanins increasing the color stability.  

Besides helping to determine the phenolic maturity ideal for harvesting, and the wines behavior during aging, concentration control during anthocyanins and flavanols maceration and their relationship in wine, analyzing for Catechins will help to adapt the product to the profile you want: from young and fruity wines, to soft and stable colors.

New Reagent: Anthocyanins

NEW REAGENT:ANTHOCYANINS

 

It is our pleasure to announce that our R & D department has developed a new reagent for the analysis of Anthocyanins, specifically designed to meet the winemaker’s needs. Anthocyanins are water soluble pigments present in grapes. It’s name comes from Greek antos (flower) and kianos (blue). They are located in the skin and in the berries pulp and its color may range from bluish to reddish depending on pH and its combination with polyphenols. Anthocyanins are involved in the wine color and its combination with polyphenols can improve the stability of wine. The reason this analyte is of great interest in winemaking process. BioSystems reagent is a fast and sensitive way to analyze anthocyanins. The reagent determines ionizable and ionized anthocyanins at 520 nm, it is ready for use, and it is stable until the expiration date.

NEW REAGENTS: HISTAMINE & ASCORBIC ACID

It is our pleasure to announce that BioSystems R & D department has developed two new reagents for the analysis of histamine (ref. 12829) and ascorbic acid (ref. 12828), specifically designed to meet everywinemaker’s needs.

Ascorbic acid is an antioxidant substance present in grapes at low concentrations (30 to 60 mg/L). The crushing process causes oxidation and ascorbic acid tends to disappear. Because of its antioxidantproperties, the use in wine and must is allowed up to 100 mg/L. A 90 mL bottle and a standard is included in the BioSystems reagent kit. It is easy to use and the working reagent has good stability (10days). These properties make the reagent the best choice for the determination of this labile substance by an enzymatic, sensitive and efficient method.

Histamine is a biogenic amine formed by the action of certain microorganisms over the amino acid histidine. Histamine intake by sensitive individuals may cause undesirable reactions such as headache,hypertension or gastrointestinal disorders, among others. It is found  in certain kinds of fish, cheese and wine. While there are specific regulations for the maximum concentrations allowed in fish,  there is noclear regulation in wine, although in some countries it is recommended not to exceed 10 mg/L. A 100 mL bottle is ready for use and stable until the expiration date.  This BioSystems reagent is an excellent,sensitive and rapid enzymatic method to monitor Histamine.
