WINE BOTTLE DECORATING Direct Screen-Printing
Direct screen printing (sometimes known as applied color labeling) is a process by which ink is applied directly to the surface of a bottle and fired through a Lehr furnace. After firing at temperatures of up to 1200° F the label design is permanently baked into the glass. Benefits include perfect registration, and labels that cannot be torn, scuffed, wrinkled, or soaked off the bottle surface. Offering up to six colors (including precious metals such as 22 karat gold) and the potential for 360° wrap-around designs, direct screen-printing is a favorite of graphic designers seeking flexibility and creativity far beyond what traditional paper labels or pressure sensitive labels offer. On print runs from 100 cases to 10,000 cases, wine bottle direct screen-printing is cost competitive with all other labeling applications.
Wine Bottle Etching and Hand Painting
Etching and hand painting are artisan quality services which work well on limited runs of large format bottles that range in size from 1.5 liters to 27 liters. Etched bottles are primarily used for charity auctions, restaurant and distributor incentive awards, as well as being offered for sale to discriminating customers and special collectors. Each bottle is hand etched and painted resulting in a unique work of art. This is a cold process that enables us to work on filled product. Clients may also take advantage of additional services that include waxing the tops and protectively packing the bottles in foam shippers of any size.
Decal Applications The use of decals offers a full spectrum of colors while providing both a pricing and design alternative to either etching or direct screen-printing. Wine Bottle decals application process is typically used for large runs of 1.5 to 6 liter bottles. Water- slide decals are hand applied to empty bottles, cured for 24 hrs, and fired at upwards of 1,200° F to permanently fuse them onto the glass. The practical aspect of decals is similar to direct screen-printing in that they cannot be torn, scuffed, wrinkled or soaked off the bottle surface. The cost is competitive to both paper and pressure sensitive labels. In addition to offering direct-screen printing, etching, and decal applications, Bergin Glass Impressions offers the following:
